SUNNYCREST PARK TRAILS MASTER PLAN
The Central New York Community Foundation http://www.cnycf.org/cnycf/ has awarded the Sunnycrest Park Association (SPA) a grant for the development of a master plan for the northern trails area of Sunnycrest Park in the Eastwood Neighborhood of Syracuse, NY. SPA has hired Planit Founder and Principal Sam Gordon to conduct the planning process. The master plan focuses on the restoration of native plant communities, the development of interpretive signage for environmental education, the restoration of the historic brick walkways and stone walls as well as improvement of the existing trail system, the restoration of the original historic drainage systems and improvements to drainage, and explores other ideas and alternatives with the broader community. The plan also highlights the existing wetland area by the Clubhouse as an important trailhead for the Park.
The master plan consists of a series of maps, diagrams, photographs, and sketches depicting the existing conditions as well as proposed conditions for the trail system; as well as a preliminary cost estimate and potential phasing for the implementation of the plan. The project is anticipated to require 12 months to complete.
