Yes fall will soon be upon us but that hasn’t stopped SPA from continuing to work on and improve the park. Just recently, the Gifford Foundation awarded us money so we can purchase new skis. This will allow us to expand our upcoming winter program especially for the kids. We also have a Harry Potter Halloween Party coming up at the Clubhouse/Ski Lodge. We hope to see all you wizards, witches and other creatures there.

We know some of you have asked questions about the Sunnycrest Rink and its future. SPA has been hard at work with an outside consultant to make our rink into the new and improved Sunnycrest Ice Plex. We are trying to expand the rink to an Olympic size ice rink so that a mixture of activities from hockey to speed skating, figure skating, curling, national championship event and of course general skating for the public can be held there. During the warm months the rink would still be utilized. We hope to install a rock climbing wall, indoor skate ramps and continue the ever popular dancing under the stars program. In addition to expanding the ring, we would like to see a field house built right next to it that could be utilized for indoor soccer, lacrosse, and sports training. This building would also contain a walking/running track and locker room area. It sounds impressive and from what we have been hearing, many city residents would like to see these new additions. The Board of SPA will continue to work on making this a reality and we invite any of you in the community that are interested to join us. The park association is always looking for new members and volunteers.
